Elliot Zibli
COACH
Coach Elliot was a triathlete when he was introduced to CrossFit in 2004 through his work in law enforcement. He started with the CrossFit Headquarters Main site workouts at his garage gym and continued them at LA Fitness for several years until he joined an affiliate in 2012. His extensive experience in CrossFit, as well as his experience with teaching in his professional life, have proven to be an excellent combination that serves him well in coaching athletes.

Scott Shepard
COACH
Don’t be fooled by the smile. Coach Scott likes to yell a lot, but it’s not his fault. He likes to push you to your limits, but it’s not his fault. He likes to get in your face, but still, it’s not his fault. Don’t blame Coach Scott, blame the United States Marine Corps!
Coach Scott served over a decade in the Marine Corps Infantry. He’s been a few places around the world and eaten a little sand during his time. After leaving the Marine Corps, a few of Scott’s friends asked him to try CrossFit, but he thought the outfits were silly, so he resisted. His friends were relentless, and, in the end, they finally got him in the door. After that first day, Scott was sucked in by the challenging physical training and camaraderie that reminded him of the Marine Corps. Needless to say, he’s been here ever since!

Makena Shepard
COACH
Coach Makena started CrossFit in 2012 because she wanted to get stronger and faster to qualify for her high school swim team. “I fell in love with CrossFit at 14 and started helping my dad with coaching kids soon after,” she says. As soon as she was eligible, Makena completed her Level1 and became official. “I love the environment and people and I love teaching and helping others as well as working out with my family.”
In 2013, Makena was invited the CrossFit Games after she placed well in the Team Gauntlet Series. Makena also loves working with children and has volunteered at Camp Kindle during the summer months. She’s currently the head coach of our Kid’s Fitness program, where she combines her love of CrossFit with her love of working with children.

Brandon Mackabee
COACH
Coach Brandon played football at Hart High School, where he and his team won a CIF Championship. He went on to play at College of the Canyons, where he won a State and National Championship. After college, Brandon became a firefighter with Cal Fire and used running and weightlifting to stay in shape for his firefighting duties. In 2006, he was introduced to CrossFit by a friend on the fire department, and he’s been hooked ever since.
Brandon joined an affiliate in 2008 and was a sectionals/regionals athlete in 2008 and 2009. His many years in CrossFit, along with his experience as an athlete outside of CrossFit, give him a well-rounded perspective as a coach.

Angie Read
COACH
Coach Angie was practicing yoga and working out at a globo gym when she was introduced to CrossFit. Bored with her routine and looking for something new, a friend talked her into trying a class. Angie went into her first session thinking CrossFit was like Zumba or an aerobics class of some kind. Well, it wasn’t Zumba or aerobics, and Angie found that she was the slowest and weakest person there. After a few weeks, she realized she was already getting faster and stronger and only had to spend an hour in the gym (versus the 2-3 hours she had been spending previously). She was also more confident and happier.
“Before CrossFit, working out felt like more of a chore,” she says. “Now, working out is more of a hobby and a stress reliever for me. It’s something I look forward to. Also, the community is great! I’ve made more friends doing CrossFit than I have to do anything else. Everyone is so supportive and people want to make new friends.”

Sean Milton
COACH
Coach Sean started CrossFit after getting out of the United States Marine Corps in 2013. He was introduced by a friend and fell in love after his first class. As Coach Sean progressed as an athlete he developed a love for coaching. You will know you are about to join Sean’s class when you can hear him yelling from the parking lot. He’s not always loud, wait, yes, he is. You can take the Marine out of the Corps, but you can’t take the Corps out of the Marine.
